Effective and incredibly precise, laser dentistry has become a vital tool for a variety of dental treatments. At DC Dental Spa, we rely on laser dentistry technologies to reduce the risk of tissue damage while treating very specific areas of the mouth. Using laser dentistry, we are also able to create better experiences for patients who are afraid or anxious about being at the dentist.
Getting dental implants is the ideal way to replace lost teeth, but some people may be disappointed when they visit the dentist to hear that they are not a good candidate for implants. That means that the dentist has determined that due to the patient’s health or other factors, there is a lower chance than average of the implants successfully fusing to the bone and becoming a permanent part of the patient’s mouth. It can also mean that the patient simply doesn’t have one natural ingredient that is required for implants: sufficient healthy jaw bone.
In order to be a candidate for dental implants, you must have sufficient bone in your jaw. Your mouth needs to properly support the implant to have a sturdy, permanent tooth replacement. In the past, if you were lacking bone in your jaw, dental implants wouldn’t have been an option for you.
Also known as third molars, wisdom teeth erupt in the back of the mouth, usually between the ages of 17 and 21 years old. Some people never experience problems with their wisdom teeth, but others experience pain, swelling, gum disease, an accumulation of bacteria, decay, root damage or other problems when they erupt. Others experience impaction, which occurs when the teeth remain buried in the jaw bones. If you are experiencing any of these issues, your DC Dental Spa dentist may recommend wisdom teeth extraction.
Are you having trouble sleeping? Is your roommate, spouse or partner constantly complaining about your snoring? Full mouth reconstruction improves the appearance and health of your smile through several cosmetic dentistry procedures. Reconstruction is often recommended for patients who have teeth that are worn down, missing or damaged. Depending on the degree of damage present, your DC Dental Spa dentist may recommend dental bridges, dental implants, dental crowns, tooth bonding, porcelain veneers, tooth-colored fillings or other procedures.

Dental veneers are very thin porcelain shells that are bonded to the surface of the teeth to change their length, shape, color or size. They are often an ideal solution for teeth that are broken or chipped, worn down, discolored, misaligned, irregularly shaped or uneven. Lumineers offer a stronger, thinner veneer option for patients who need to restore the look of their smile. DC Dental Spa is fully certified in Lumineer application. Many patients who come to us for veneers are pleased to find they can have this easier, less invasive option.
Many of our patients are surprised to learn that their headache pain is caused by their jaw joints, muscle spasms around the head or neck, or an incorrect bite. Headaches are one of the most common signs of temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), a condition that stems from the jaw. Other signs of TMJ include pain behind the eyes, painful muscles, worn teeth, tingling in the fingers and hands, clicking or popping in the jaw joint, sensitive teeth, earaches, ringing in the ears, dizziness and other issues.
Root canal therapy has a reputation for being pretty scary, but it really does not deserve it. For the majority of patients, having the procedure done is no more painful than other minor dental procedures. In fact, most of the discomfort is experienced due to infection before the root canal, not during the treatment itself.
In the past, teeth that were decayed, chipped or fractured were often fixed using metal fillings. While these fillings helped restore the health and usability of teeth, their obvious appearance made them a less than ideal solution. Luckily, the same problems can be treated today using tooth-colored fillings that mimic the natural appearance of your own teeth.
